Many losses, too soon...

This week we have lost too many good, too soon! We received a call late Sunday evening from Hawaii that a good friend lost his life, King Curtis Iaukea at the age of 73 in his native Hawaii. Then the next morning we received a call that another good friend, Skip Young aka Sweet Brown Sugar, lost his life. Then in other news, a long time sports personality Don Meredith; and now Elizabeth Edwards have lost their lives. Such as sad week, so close to the Christmas holidays.
It bring to the forfront of the news, the reason for the season - be thankful for your friends & family, tell them you love them & that you will be here for them. It is never too early, but may be too late!

Already done a couple of radio shows this week, talking about the GWT tournament. We have had a call from the Guiness Book of World Records about the amount of wrestlers/staff that we will have here in one weekend. If we have the 400 entries that we are looking for, it will take 399 matches to reach a winner! That will be the most professional wrestling matches ever done in one place for one event. So not only will the picture of the GWT forever hang in the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame but now we might be forever listed in the Guiness Book of World Records. How cool would that be?
But if you haven't entered & are not planning on being there, you will always wonder what if? Don't be that guy!
More calls to make... Getting ready for the radio show tonight, Mantell's Corral live 9pm CST.

Do you have what it takes?

Quote of the Day: "Life is one big road with lots of signs. So when your riding through the ruts, don't complicate your mind. Flee from hate, mischief & jealousy. Don't bury your thoughts, put your vision to reality. Wake up & Live!" ~Bob Marley

There are lots of directions to go in your life. Directions that will take you up & down, right or wrong.
I have had so many comments about my life & what I am doing with the Tournament over the past week. It's amazaing what people have to say when they really don't know the facts about what they are talking about and don't have the cahones to ask. That's right, I said many don't have the cahones to ask or else they would have called up by now & asked. My numbers are listed on the contact page of the website. Feel free.

I made the following comment on our website last week about the what has been going on...

From Johnny Mantell -
First, let me say that I really appreciate all the positive comments & feedback we have received about doing this Tournament. I have had my time in the Spotlight in the Squared Circle, I am not working on this Tournament for me. This Tournament is to help all the wrestlers out there that would like more skills, knowledge from true Legends in the Ring, proven legends, not just legends in their own minds. The Business of Professional Wrestling benefits most from this Tournament. Allowing workers from around the World the opportunity to show their talent to a variety of promoters & scouts from promotions around the World, & have the chance at becoming the first ever Germanfest Wringenmeister and be recognized at the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame!
If you want to improve your skills & talent, have a chance at advancing your career, then this is the place to be & be seen. This will really be continuing education & a job interview rolled into a great weekend of brotherhood!
This website is open & available to any & all, be friend, foe or followers, whether your one of the "boys" or just a fan. We do not stop anyone from looking at, reading, commenting on or becoming involved in the GWT Meet & Greet Forum, (negative or hateful comments will be removed). We are not into deciding who is "worthy enough" to be allowed to read what is said here.
Like I have said in the past. I will not go to a war of Wits & Words with unarmed men! If you think this statement is aimed at you, then it probably is. Ask everyone who knows me, if I have something to say or say to you, I will call or come & find you. I do not have a problem at all with telling the truth & speaking my mind. I do have a problem with guys hiding behind computer screens, keyboards talking about me & what I am doing with out knowing the facts. If anyone wants to talk to me, tell me what they think of me or this company, then feel free to call me or come find me, again I would (& have) do the same to you. My phone numbers and home address are listed in several places on this website.
We continue daily to receive Entries from around the US. We received our first Entry from Canada this week. Everyone is excited about it around the community of Muenster, TX and around the World of Wrestling.
As always, I am here to answer any questions asked! Come find me or call anytime...
See ya! ~CJM

As of today, I am taking it off the site because this is a site for the Tournament information & info for my coaching buddies about doing fundraisers. I will no longer worry about what others say or do. I only want to provide a knowledgable & learning experience for the guys in the business of Professional Wrestling. I know for many of you that is hard to believe. The first thing most of you want to know, is what do I get out of this, who benefits? Why is it hard to believe that I don't want anything from this? It amazes everyone that I provide training at my place in Montague County each Sunday, at no cost. Again, I want to better the business of Professional Wrestling.
If you have questions, ask them. If you need something, call me. Tell me what I can do to help this business.

Whew! Firday, the end of the week... It's a miracle we have made it this far. I have been feeling a little off this week, doc says when we have these pressure systems, they can set my headaches way off. Thank goodness the systems gone, and my headaches are little better. I know it is something that I will always have to live with but at least most of the time they are manageable.

This week I have been fortunate to talk to many more people from the Business. We have added a couple more Legendary Judges for the Tournament that we will be releasing over the next few days. We are also talking daily to guys from every state about sending Entry Forms & other Tournament info to their organizations.
This week we also recieved our first online entry form for Participant & for a Referee for the Tournament. Exciting to just get it published online, and the next morning, we have a entry.
Sad that the State of Georgia has more Partcipants entered into the Tournament than Texas does. We have had to change to the Deadline for the Entries for the Tournament. The Deadline now is January 1, 2011.

Next Scheduled Interview that requested information for the Tournament is for the False Count Radio show on Saturday, Nov. 6th 3pm CST.  They have a show on BlogTalkRadio, check them out on Saturday!

This week planning the GWT

This week planning the Germanfest Wringenmeisterschaft Tournament has been a very interesting & rewarding in all the calls, comments & emails we have received about the event. Since creating the online Tournament Entry Forms, a way to accept the entry fee online, we have really started getting entries from around the country. What really surprises me is that the state with the most entries as of now, is the State of Georgia. It's funny because the Tournament is in Texas, & Georgia has more participants entered than Texas.
We also may have a way for some of you that want a way to get a little confirmed payday as well, so if any of you have any security or bouncer background please let us know. We might have a side job for you. At least to help pay for your trans or lodging.
Remember to use the GWT Meet & Greet Forum on the website, use it to find rides, share rooms or feel free to start another discussion thread.
If anyone has any questions about the tournament or needs something feel free to contact us, all the info is on the website.
keep up the good work & God Bless everyone....

Crazy times....

Since our 1st/last post, we did not expect things to be as hectic/crazy as they have been. It has been great, don't get me wrong!
We wake up daily to emails, FB from all over asking about the Tournament. Some people don't really understand the concept, some don't know how I have been able to get such Legendary names to agree to come & judge at the Tournament, etc.
What most people in today's wrestling world don't seem to understand, or remember is that I have had a long career in this business. Many of these Legendary Judges are my long time friends. We all want to give back to this business that has been so good to us over the years. We also want to allow these "young" independent wrestlers the opportunity to work with guys from around the world, in front on large crowds that they normally wouldn't have a chance to work in front of.
I had Honky Tonk Man on the Mantell's Corral last night. One comment he made, was you used to ask a guy how long they have been in this business to get an idea of what kind of experience they have had, but now days you have to ask how many matches a guy has had. He said that a few months ago he asked a guy at a Indy show how long he had been in the business, he said 3 years but had only had about 15 matches. Really? Amazing...
I am currently going through & looking for independent promotions & schools, taking time to call or email them personally to tell them about the Tournament & what opportunities it offers for them. Also, trying to start calling or being called by all the Wrestling "radio" shows from around the country to tell them about it. I spent a few minutes the other night on the Dave & Danger Show which is on the Georgia Wrestling History.com show lineup. It was a good show & the next day we had quite a few hits direct from their site. So what we are doing is getting the info out, we just need to keep trudging along.
Exciting news - I did a Interview with Dan Murphy with the ProWrestling Illustrated magazine that will run in the December Issue.
Huge Thanks to all the guys who  have offered to help get the info out to the masses. We need all the help we can get, in doing our research on indy groups, there are over 100+ in Texas alone. Just imagine how many are really out there.
We have put this #1 on our priority list to do this daily. Will do our best to keep you informed about our daily actions to bring this one of a kind event, the WoodStock of Wrestling, to you!!
Remember if you have any questions ever or want info or to enter the Tournament, visit the WWW/GWT site!

First day....

Welcome to a day in My Life... I thought what could be more interesting that following our day to day events in planning the first ever Germanfest Wringenmeisterschaft Tournament, independent wrestling tournament of its kind. It has taken on a life all by itself. We wake up daily to emails with questions about the Tournament, requests for Interviews & comments about the event. Which we love. We are excited that this is getting the response from around the world like it is.
Today we are headed to a Security Meeting with the Cooke County Sheriff's Office & John Broyles, Executive Director with the Muenster Chamber of Commerce. We want to make sure that everyone at the event, the wrestling particpants, the audience, judges & volunteers are all where they need to be.
Will also spend the afternoon calling on a group of independent promotions & schools listed in the Carolina's! This is getting the personal touch from us. We are personally calling as many organizations & schools that we can get info on so they know about it.
It was great talking to my old buddy, Honky Tonk Man, yesterday - he said he was in a dressing room a few weeks ago & heard something about the Tournament & he thought "man, that's a hell of an idea, it's got to be one of my old buddies doing it". Well he was right....
Tune in to tonight's Mantell's Corral for up to date info on what's going on & to find out who our "special guest" will be!
